Case Study:
Rochester, NY Non-Profit Organization Website Redesign

The Problem

The board members of a non-profit organization in Rochester, NY, called Adopt A Grandparent, Inc. ("AAG" or "AAGI" for short) had an old website that had only 2 pages; a home page and a contact page. It had the bare minimum of information about their organization, which began in 2014. They had many pictures from past events that they wanted to showcase, they wanted to attract more donors and volunteers, and they knew that redesigning their website would accomplish these goals. They were also not happy with their current monthly hosting cost.

The Solution

The Details

We transferred their website from a local hosting provider to my favorite hosting company, SiteGround. It's one of the best website hosting providers. Then we used the best WordPress theme builder, called Bricks Builder, for clean code, accessibility, performance, SEO (search engine optimization), scalability, and maintainability. For fast website development and great website design, we used WordPress plugins called Automatic CSS and Frames.

For an easily organized media library, we used Happy Files Pro. For top-notch performance, we used two plugins called Performance Lab and Perfmatters to decrease the size of uploaded media files without sacrificing their quality and to control the loading of unused CSS and JavaScript files. In turn, this decreases the amount of time at which the website files are loaded by web browsers, making for a better website visitor experience.

For great security and even more optimization, we used SiteGround's world-class Security Optimizer and Speed Optimizer plugins. For good, solid, full website backups, we used SolidBackups (formerly iThemes Backup Buddy Pro).

For the best in SEO on a WordPress site, we used Rank Math SEO Pro. For all the legal protection policies, such as a privacy policy, a legal disclaimer, and terms of service, we used the amazing services of Termageddon.

Performance Report on GTmetrix

GTmetrix is another great free tool to test website performance scores along with Core Web Vitals, which is Google's main website testing tool. This site's overall grade is an A, which is the highest that you can have. The performance is 99%. The structure is 100%, which is how well the page was built for optimal performance. The Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) is 757 milliseconds, which is how long it takes the web browser to load the largest file on the page. The Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) score, zero for this site, indicates how much the elements on the page shift while the page loads. A score higher than 0.1 results in a poor user experience (UX).
